Sasha Roiz portrayed Sam Adama, an enforcer with the Tauron crime syndicate, Ha'la'tha. Sam is the uncle of Bill Adama, who will grow up to become Admiral William "Bill" Adama. He appeared in sixteen episodes.

Biography[]

Roiz is an Israeli-Canadian actor of Russian Jewish descent. He was born on October 21, 1973, in Tel Aviv and moved to Montréal, Canada, when he was six years old. He speaks Russian, French, English and a little Hebrew. He went to university and played music before deciding to go to theater school in his mid-twenties. He studied in Montréal and England, then came back to work in Toronto. He currently lives in Los Angeles, California.[1]

Roiz is best known for his portrayals of Sam Adama in the science fiction television series Caprica and Captain Sean Renard in the American dark fantasy television series "Grimm".[2]

He shot his first starring film role in the independent science fiction thriller "Extracted" which premiered at the 2012 South by Southwest Film Festival. Roiz has made numerous guest appearances on some of television's most notable programs, including "House", "The Mentalist", "Lie to Me", "CSI", "NCIS" and "Castle" as well as a series arc on "Warehouse 13".[3]

He originally auditioned for the role of Tomas Vergis. In the end, they offered him the role of Sam Adama. He was a guest star in the pilot episode. When the series was picked up, his role was expanded to series regular.[4]
