Taurus is the ancient name for one of the thirteen tribes of the planet Kobol.
The Twelve Colonies were founded by tribes from Kobol, the birthplace of humanity. Two thousand years prior to the present (42YR), a disaster of unknown origin forced the tribes to abandon their home. They journeyed to the Cyrannus Star System, located two thousand light years away from Kobol. The Taurus Tribe settled a planet which became the Colony of Tauron.
Taurus (Latin: "Bull") is the second sign of the zodiac, governing that portion of the year from about April 20 to about May 20. Its representation as a bull is related to the Greek myth of Zeus, who assumed the form of a bull to abduct Europa. (1)
