Veena Sood portrays Secretary of Defense Joan Leyte, to whom Daniel Graystone demonstrates the U-87 in order to win a defense military contract.
Sood is an award-winning actress of Indian descent, and is internationally recognized for her versatility in both comedy and drama. She has a theatre degree in Drama and went on to co-found "The Loose Moose Theatre Company" with Improv master Keith Johnstone.

Sood played a Quorum Delegate on the Quorum of Twelve in the Battlestar Galactica episodes, "Blood on the Scales", "The Oath" and "A Disquiet Follows My Soul" (2009); and "Sine Qua Non" (2008).
